Ayrton Senna (1960-1994) was a legendary Brazilian racing driver who won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 1988, 1990, and 1991.
He held the record for most pole positions from 1989 to 2006 and won 41 Grands Prix. Senna's career began in karting, and he quickly rose to prominence, winning the 1983 British Formula Three Championship.
He joined Formula One in 1984 with Toleman-Hart, moved to Lotus-Renault in 1985, and won six Grands Prix in three seasons. In 1988, he joined McLaren-Honda, securing his first World Championship. He won two more titles in 1990 and 1991.
In 1994, he moved to Williams but tragically died in an accident while leading the San Marino Grand Prix.
Senna is celebrated for his remarkable one-lap speed and wet-weather performances. His rivalry with Alain Prost, marked by intense clashes in the Japanese Grands Prix of 1989 and 1990, remains a defining chapter in Formula One history.
